Ramps provide the required elevation for lifting of objects or even people to a height or bringing them down from a height, without the use of stairs or steps. In terms of physics, a ramp is basically an inclined plane. Inclined planes need to have the perfect angle of inclination for rolling heavy objects up or down. If the angle of inclination is very small or very large which means that if the ramp is too steep or too low then a lot of effort has to be expended by a person who is involved in rolling up or rolling down an object along an inclined plane or a ramp.
